Discover the metropolis of the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region
Coal, steel, beer and soccer - that's what Dortmund is known for far beyond the city limits. But the city has much more to offer. Especially after the end of coal mining and the steel industry, the city has undergone enormous structural change and is now home to numerous insurance, cultural and sporting institutions. There are also six universities within the city limits.
